Inauguration 2009 – Washington D.C | Day 4

These are the last of the photos from a great trip. I lost my ID flying into DC, lost my iPhone flying out of DC, and on top of that I stood in one spot for 6 hours freezing and got sick. But none of that could ruin the experience. I just kind of realize that it has been so easy to be negative about so many things. And sometimes it’s easier if you just let it go. (not my iPhone though….I think I might be getting it back!)

I would like to take the time to thank all the people who where appreciative of the live commentary and updates during the event. It was nice to be able to convey my thoughts and emotions during this historic event, and to provide a different lens for people who could not make it. It made the whole experience that much more gratifying.

All I can say is there was a range of emotions from todays events. Some people followed them live  thru twitter or thru my FB updates (thanks for the encouragment and appreciation). A lot of the the content from the days events can be seen here in this Facebook app.

When I got back, I have to say I was amazed at the diversity of the uploads. Babies at home, Classrooms across the country, home (and warm) tv sets. It is worth a look. I wanted to take the opportunity to post the photos from todays event. My words right now cannot describe the experience. But the person I was with Emily Brewer did a fabulous job of crystalizing some of her thoughts. You can read them here More to come. Tomorrow the Smithsonian and the AeroSpace Museum (hopefully).

I better make this short, because I have to get up in 4 1/2 hours to get in line to see Barack Obama sworn in! I actually got to see him this morning. He was doing community service a block over from where I am staying (thanks for the hospitality Samantha). I wanted to post pictures from today. I also wanted to give one last plug for the face book app Sapient (that’s me and my developers) have developed!. Tomorrow it will be huge. It will pull in twitter, youTube, sms, and Flickr photos realtime As well as stream the NPR national broadcast of the event. All I have to say is thank you Andy Carvin, NPR, and the Inauguration Report for the opportunity to create something I am proud of. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your folks! We almost did not make it in past the gates, we were one of the fortunate few who made it past the purple gate.

Heading down to DC to witness history!

I haven’t updated in a bit, but it’s with good reason. I have been working on a facebook app that shows content from the Inauguration. I am heading to the events and I am very excited. But I will save my views and experiences for a later post. For the time being I will be posting content to http://inaugurationreport.com. This site is an aggregate of content form people attending the event. It is produced by NPR as a follow up to initiative rolled out at during the elections “Vote Report”. Read more here about “inaug09″  and what it means.

Jumping on my plane from Dallas to DC! So this post is rushed…. But hopefully still informative. Please read about the facebook app that Sapient is working on to support the event below. Right now you can see a bunch of pics I have been uploading during my trip.

The App still has some bugs. But you can look at peoples pics going to the event, txts about what is going on in DC as well as listen to the live broadcast of the events on Tuesday. Think of it as the peoples view, instead of ABCs and NBCs. Content is uploaded from people at the event. NPR is streaming the audio broadcast.
